"Amy loves the Karate sessions. She is getting fitter, more confident and
is super-enthusiastic. She is increasingly making good progress – having achieved
her Red, Yellow and Orange belts and
she is looking forward to doing her next grading.
The Student of the Week award is also popular and an extra incentive.
The experienced members are brilliant with the ‘novices’ and a great
example. They love the competition and we are happy because we know
it is a safe environment."
Paul Cunningham – Amy's Dad
"The club is friendly, warm and welcoming to all. It is led by Sensei Stewart Procter who understands that motivating the younger kids needs a balance between fun, humour and some serious hard work. My son Adam has been attending since early 2012 and has learnt so much. Not only have his Karate skills improved at a rapid rate, but also his confidence, attitude and Japanese language skills! The club caters for all age groups and abilities - with the older members training and coaching alongside the younger ones.......everyone trains together to learn from each other, and develop a mutual trust and understanding. This is the real winner - Sensei Stewart has made the club into a 'family unit' that brings people together; regardless of race, background or ability, everyone works together for the benefit of the club and each other. There are no attitudes here, no one is singled out for being better than others, but all are praised for their efforts and progress. If you are interested in joining, come along and see what goes on........you won’t be disappointed".
Andy Johnson – Adam’s Dad
“Since my son Matthew started Karate at the Mosses he has gained in confidence not only with Karate but in other things as well such as football, school work and socialising with his peers. He has become noticeably more independent at home and school. Karate has helped Matthew to grow as an individual. He takes responsibility for his Karate suit and his attendance at the club; he just loves it and has never once said he doesn’t want to attend”.
“Matthew told me after his second lesson that he would like to teach Karate. From his very first lesson up to now, his instructor makes him feel special and important as he does with all his pupils. It has always been a very welcoming warm place and this is due to the instructors as well as the other children themselves”.
Mrs Georgina Gaff – Matthew’s Mum.
“Joe has been doing Karate for about three and a half years; he has developed in this time to be a well rounded person. He used to be quite impatient and aggressive but has calmed down a great deal and has a greater sense of self control. He is a very kind and caring person who thinks about the needs of others. He has become more motivated at school and his concentration has improved. Joe is very active and enjoys the physical activity and control that is involved in Karate; he also enjoys being part of the group which is friendly and supportive”.
Christine Entwistle – Joe’s Mum
“My son has been attending this Karate club around a year now and to be honest, I wish that I had known about it sooner. He attends both lessons (on a Friday evening and on a Sunday morning) and thoroughly enjoys it. One comment I had off him after being there for two weeks was that she wished he could do it every day, he enjoyed class so much. The group make you feel welcome and it’s like one big family. Jack is gaining confidence, skills, his grades and friends at the same time! I would never ever consider going anywhere else.”
Lee Mahon - Jack's Dad
"Best thing I ever did was start my son here. Karate is really good for him as a person. Already in the short time he has attended, his confidence has grown and his co-ordination and concentration are growing with each lesson. This is a friendly club and I only wish I had found it sooner. Everybody including the other parents make you feel welcome. I chose to send my son here after looking at alternative clubs and the experience has been amazing."
Joseph Nogbou - Joseph's Dad
"My son has been attending this group for some time now. He absolutely loves the group, with a wide range of abilities all coaching and supporting each other. Fees are very reasonable and Sensei Stewart is one of the nicest people you could ever meet, he is both firm and encouraging and is always ready to have a laugh with the group. The club can get any equipment and clothing you need at a very good price, and you are not pressured into buying anything. My son has only missed one class in a year and is out of bed like a flash rushing us to get ready so he isn't late (so he doesn't get press up's!!, but mainly because he loves going.) I would highly recommend this group to everyone".
Jackie Williams – Matthew's Mum
"Sutemi Karate club in Bury is great; the staff are great, the atmosphere is very friendly and the cost competitive when considering what the other clubs have to offer. There are no up front costs, it’s pay as you go and the equipment (including kit) is fairly priced with no pressure to buy. I would recommend to anyone to try. This is the club is for me; there is no way I would ever consider going anywhere else."
Brandon's Dad
"Since I started at the club I have found a host of new friends and an activity that really suits me. I have always thought about taking up the martial arts and I am really pleased that I did. I am due to take my Black Belt this year and I am really looking forward to the challenge even though the examination is meant to be really difficult. They say that if something is really difficult, then it makes it all the more worthwhile. The sense of self-achievement that I will feel will rank as being comparable to anything else that I have done."
